For Reqelforders, the act of learning never stops, even when they are out of the classroom! At our campus, a great deal of importance is given to extra-curricular activities that are designed to bring out the best in each student. Students are encouraged to express themselves, be it through arts, literature, sports, culture or technology. And the best examples of this are the various clubs that have been founded with the sole aim of involving students in more than just academics. To be precise, there are currently five clubs at Reqelford that actively meet, organise special programmes, events and happenings to make school life fun for every student. Here’s a lowdown on Reqelford’s five clubs:
WHAT: Literary Club
WHO: Mrs. Arlene is in charge.
WHY: The mission of this club is to provide students with the opportunity to enhance their language, better their communication skills and get them hooked onto reading!
HOW: Students of this club meet up regularly to discuss the various books that have been selected for reading and learn to identify different writing styles. Apart from preparing for various events like recitation contests, plays and presentations, the club organises many events too.
IMPACT: One of major things that the Literary club has helped the students with is in giving them the confidence for public speaking. It has also helped shy students overcome their timidness and come out of their shells. The students have also learnt to appreciate various forms of literary expressions.
WHAT: Sports Club
WHO: Mr. Kiran is in charge, along with the help of Ms Sri Lakshmi and Mr. Pramod (swimming teacher).
WHY: This club strives to help students get healthy and gain both physical and mental strength as they learn to play sports.
HOW: All students are part of this club, which aims to teach them the art of sportsmanship, team play and much more through the medium of games and athletics. While the high school students participate in races, throwball and basketball among other sports, the primary students and kindergarteners engage in games that enhance their physical and mental abilities.
IMPACT: This club has witnessed a major change in the overall temperament of some of our students with special needs. It has taught students to give their best shot to any task they undertake and learn from both victories and losses.
WHAT: Arts Club
WHO: Mr. Satyanarayana is in charge.
WHY: The mission of this club is to identify the artistic abilities in Reqelforders.
HOW: The students of this club take pride in attending their bi-weekly classes, which create an unbridled environment of creativity and expression. Students from the Art Club have participated in various competitions and have brought laurels to the school. The club encourages members be expressive and opinionated when it comes to their preferred art form.
IMPACT: This club has successfully provided a platform for all those students who are more comfortable with pencils and paints, rather than microphones, balls and bats. Students have learnt new skills like Origami and Pattern Cutting among others. But most importantly, students of this club have gained an immense amount of confidence as the classes have boosted their overall personality development.
WHAT: Heritage Club
WHO: Mrs. Riyaz is in charge.
WHY: The club aims to create awareness among students about their past and their heritage.
HOW: Students of the Heritage Club research about various places of interest and study about their historic importance, cultural impact and a lot more. Students even get to go on field trips to historically significant places to gain a first-hand learning of it. Students are also taught about the importance of preserving our heritage and they aim to create awareness about this subject by hosting art competitions and nature walks, to name a few activities.
IMPACT: Being a part of this club has taught students to feel proud of their heritage and where they come from, in turn creating a sense of self-worth and confidence necessary for the students to become responsible adults.
WHAT: Social Media Club
WHO: Mr. Lester, Ms. Radhika and Ms. Manju are in-charge.
WHY: The aim of this club is to keep students updated about the latest technology and social media platforms, so that they can help the school keep up with the times.
HOW: In this club, the members act as correspondents and come together to discuss latest happenings in the school. The students have been divided into groups, each of which brings the latest reports and news from various events, clubs and in-class activities to create a comprehensive list of campus events that can be showcased on the school’s social media platform.
IMPACT: The students have learnt the importance of social media platforms and blogs in today’s times and how to use technology to one’s advantage. The club has taught the students to keep up with the times, be observant and tech-savvy.
