The Parable of A Pencil – An Interesting read for All!

A Pencil maker once took a pencil aside just before putting him into the box.
‘There are five things you need to know,’ he told the pencil, ’before I send you out into the world always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best pencil you can be.’
One: You will do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in someone’s hand.
Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, but you’ll need it to become a better pencil.
Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make.
Four: The most important part of you will always be what is inside.
Five: On every surface you are used on you must leave your mark, no matter what the condition, you must continue to write.

Now replacing the place of the pencil with you always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best person you can be.

One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow other human beings to access you for the many gifts you possess.
Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, by going through various problems in life, but you’ll need it to become a stronger person.
Three: You will be able to correct any mistake you might make.
Four: The most important part of you will always be what’s on the inside.
And Five: On every surface you walk through, you must leave your mark. No matter what the situation, you must continue to do your duties.

We Believe in Empowering our Teachers

Mr.Rajeev Gupta, an Education Facilitator, conducted a workshop on Communication Skills for teachers at Reqelford.

Highlighting a few of the essentials for enhancing communication skills
Having the right attitude is important for a teacher. One must have an open mind in this field of life.

Tips for teachers:

  • Work is to be enjoyed
  • Focus is essential – be there, be present. Enjoy, have fun, but don’t lose FOCUS of what you are doing.
  • If you’re ever feeling down or low, find someone who needs a helping hand or a sympathetic ear and make their day.

Thinking about English language and “Why English Pronunciation?” Rajeev highlights-

“English is a strange language no doubt, but it definitely rules the world today. It is not a person with a string of degrees attached to themselves, but a person who can communicate his ideas effectively, who can create a mark in any field.” Such skills are not developed overnight. One needs proper and effective training right from the beginning. Therefore, it is essential for teachers to be absolutely thorough in language skills, as students have implicit faith in them.
Teachers are to be reminded that children ape teachers and believe every word they utter especially in the formative years.

For Reqelforders, the act of learning never stops, even when they are out of the classroom! At our campus, a great deal of importance is given to extra-curricular activities that are designed to bring out the best in each student. Students are encouraged to express themselves, be it through arts, literature, sports, culture or technology. And the best examples of this are the various clubs that have been founded with the sole aim of involving students in more than just academics. To be precise, there are currently five clubs at Reqelford that actively meet, organise special programmes, events and happenings to make school life fun for every student. 7 Reasons Why your Kids need to be Reqelforders!

1. Education goes out of the box!

 Out of the box!

As parents, you know better that children who spend all their time competing for ranks and mugging up lessons pointlessly end up being stressed out, dull and even hating academics. But at Reqelford, we believe that school should be the best times of a child’s life! Learning+fun makes for happy and smart kids! So, we believe that education is taken from out of the book and applied in the classroom in a way that students don’t just ‘know’ what they are taught, but ‘experience’ it. From cutting-edge simulation programmes that teach students subjects like geography, environmental science and natural science in a way that a textbook never can  to arranging interesting field trips, Reqelford constantly devises ways to ensure students are having a blast while they are studying!

2. The campus is your playground!

Campus is your playground

Away from the hustle-bustle and cacophony of the city, Reqelford International School campus offers students a quiet bubble of learning. The campus is a sprawling seven-and-a-half acres in Keesara, where every corner is a learning space.  The school campus with its large, airy buildings and digitized classrooms houses a multi-purpose auditorium, a health room and a medical Center with a full-time doctor and a nurse, AC buses, a cafeteria with a well balanced and multi-cuisine menu and much more. The school also lays a special emphasis on physical training. Apart from boasting of a sports hall,  swimming pool, tennis, squash and basketball courts, football and cricket fields, skating rinks and a golf range, Reqelford has partnered with Sports School Academy that provides trained coaches to teach the students.

3. We are in the ‘now’!

The globalised world is moving towards change and development at a pace faster than ever and we ensure that today’s young minds, who will be the future of tomorrow keep up with the times. Outdated learning makes way for very current methods that involve engaging content.  Be it when organising online walkthroughs to visit the best museums in the world to our specially designed  curriculum that has a focus on the development of essential skills like understanding, exploration, and creativity. Children are taught to appreciate ideas outside of traditional boundaries.  In fact to keep up with the times, teachers undergo constant training from management to stay updated with the latest educational modules and attend workshops to stay inspired, motivated and encouraged to come up with innovative teaching mechanisms.

4. Beyond the blackboard!

Beyond the balckboard

At Reqelford, students are not just relegated to the classroom and get a chance to be fully-rounded individuals. Whether it is music, dance, theatre, fine arts or crafts, at Reqelford, we give wings to your children’s dreams. In fact, we have  fully-equipped art, drama, dance and music studios, E-science labs, multimedia center with internet access and multi-storey library that helps students develop different aspects of their personality. Most importantly, Reqelford believes in an Open Learning culture which focuses on life skills. This learning culture offers the right environment to nurture a child’s inquisitive mind. Students are encouraged to engage with the environment as well as with peers and adults around them to gain real life experiences. This leads to their all-round development through deeper understandings about themselves and others. They are inculcated with interdisciplinary skills, social skills, research skills, thinking skills, reasoning, communication skills, and self-management, which equip them to face the real world outside.

5.Tech gurus!

tech gurus

At a time when the entire world is becoming a global village thanks to everything going online, we believe that education too can be taken to an all new level, thanks to the medium of technology.  Students have their own tech gurus in the form of online digital library resources that helps enhancing the learning experience of the classroom. Reqelford even encourages the use of tablet PCs and desktops with age appropriate content and applications to ensure students are with the times and get the most of this interconnected times. Students are even issued Smartcards, that function as library cards, or for issuing music instruments, sports equipment, and logging onto the network.  Parents also use tech-savvy methods to stay in the loop. While an online newsletter keeps parents updated, they can also log onto the school site to view their child’s progress, homework being set or topics being covered over the week. An online digital library even gives access to recommended websites to enhance topics being taught in class. What’s more teachers are even accessible to students through email!

6.Breeding global citizens

We believe in making sure our students are not just being bred to write exams, but are being nurtured to take on the outside world with much ease and confidence. We not only teach them  different languages and social and communication skills, but also expose them to cultures across the world and teach them to be well-aware and interesting individuals or rather global citizens. Pen pals are passé, Reqelordians stay with the times and exchange emails with students from USA, Argentina, Nigeria and Tanzania among others and even interact with them on Skype calls!  Also, students are encouraged to participate in activities that are conducted on the campus that have a truly global perspective. Be it learning about the culture of different communities across the world or their cuisine, at Reqelford, students are made to be well-aware about life and times all over the globe, expanding the horizons of their minds.

7.Learning with a heart

 Learning with a heart

At Reqelford, students are taught about the joy of giving and serving the community at a very early age. Compassionate living practices are inculcated in every student through extensive study of health and civic habits,  visit to hospitals, old-age homes, orphanages and schools. Also, we make it a point to organise fund raising activities for natural disasters, etc, frequently so that students learn early on the need to reach out a helping hand to those who need it. In fact, recently, Reqelfordians paid a visit to an old-age home and spent some quality me with the senior citizens there. They also took it upon themselves to cheer up the atmosphere of the home by putting up lively song and dance performances, interactive sessions and also giving out goodies. At Reqelford, we believe in educating the soul of the child too.
